Set high up in one of the most stunning locations on the Island, the Culver Haven Inn has always been a magnet for hikers, dog walkers and cyclists – and now the venue has become even more appealing, with the addition of an attractive new outdoor seating area.

Local tradespeople were commissioned by pub owners Tim and Kate Green to create the feature area, which incorporates a new patio area, refurbished tables and characteristic seaside deck chairs. There are also two locking bike racks for those customers who arrive on two wheels.

The work, including installation of a walk-in fridge freezer at the rear of the building, was done over a few weeks after Easter, and completed just in time for the Platinum Jubilee weekend.

According to Kate, customers love it. “People especially love the deckchair area where they can relax and take in the amazing 360-degree views.  It’s already becoming a favourite pit-stop  for cyclists and walkers”.

The outdoor upgrade follows the improvement work that Tim and Kate did inside the pub in November 2019 – just before Covid hit the pub trade everywhere.  They’re glad to have finally been able to match up the outside to the interior, and are delighted with the result achieved by their team of Island-based companies.

The main works were completed by J.A. Dempsey, the refrigeration work by Newitt’s, and the deckchairs supplied by Hinks Cafe in Sandown.  Additional woodworking was supplied by Woodcutter Products.

As well as its enviable setting right next to the Yarborough Monument, the Culver Haven Inn has also built a great reputation for its real ales and the delicious menus created by Head Chef Dan Wooler, using lots of locally-sourced ingredients and blending them with creative skill.
