The Isle of Wight Garlic Festival enjoyed the sweet smell of success as thousands of Islanders and visitors took in the sights, sounds  – and especially the odours – of the annual two-day event.

There was something to entertain everyone on the site near Newchurch, and the event was made even more enjoyable by the fact there was hardly a drop of rain to put a dampener on proceedings all weekend – a rare occurrence this summer.

Stallholders were kept busy, and queues for food were as long as ever, but once fed and watered, adults and youngsters were entertained by events throughout the weekend in the main arena, as well as a string of artists on the main stage. Youngsters had the added bonus of sideshows, bouncy slides, roundabouts, and the Twister ride for the more adventurous.

Inevitably, a marquee packed with all things garlic took pride of place. From garlic cloves, relishes and sauces, and even beer, the Garlic Farm staff served up a variety of treats to tickle the tastebuds of all ages.
