Some of the most successful businesses have grown out of the hobby or the passion of the owner – and that’s certainly the case for Keith Styles and his KSR Performance Motorcycles enterprise at Lake Industrial Way.
Originally launched in March last year as a part-time operation, the highly specialised motorbike servicing and rolling road tuning centre is already moving up a gear with six days-a-week opening and a greater focus on the retail and workshop services side of things.
With over 30 years of involvement in the motorsport industry under his belt, there’s not much that ex-army man and motorcycle racer Keith doesn’t know about preparing bikes for action. In fact, he actually launched the business originally just to build engines for the racing community.
However, with motorbike culture on the rise more and more people investing in bikes for commuting and leisure purposes, he saw a growing market and an opportunity to expand the business by adding a specialist diagnostic, tuning and servicing centre.
His partner Jan has recently left her job to join him in the business and run the retail side of things, which includes a wide range of oils and parts suitable for everything from scooters right up to big adventure and off-road bikes.
Meanwhile Keith has invested in state-of-the-art equipment to simulate road conditions, which enable him to offer specialist services such as suspension tuning using Maxton and K-Tech shocks and internals.
When it comes to performance upgrades, KSR is the only Dynapro 125LC rolling road tuning centre on the Isle of Wight, with the upgraded Eddy Current rolling road load testing components that runs the latest software up to a maximum of 600BHP.
