This year’s Memorial Ploughing Match was held at New Wolverton Farm, by kind permission of owners Professor and Mrs Williams.

The overall winner was George Richards with his vintage Massey Ferguson tractor. Four teams of heavy horses ploughed on the day, all travelling from the mainland with thanks to Red Funnel. Winner of the horse ploughing was Mr Jim Elliot, who won for the first time.

Organiser Karen Sheath thanked tractor judges Kevin Whatley, Claire Whatley, Colin Purdue and Ian Vincent from the mainland and Andrew Groves from the Island, who judged the heavy horse ploughing. Money raised from the event is shared with local charities. The main beneficiary being Challenge and Adventure.
