The Island’s biggest independent estate agency, Hose Rhodes Dickson, is preparing to celebrate its 30th birthday milestone this year with a pledge to raise £30,000 for Mountbatten in an imaginative #Raising30for30 campaign.

As long-standing supporters of both Walk the Wight and Mountbatten Hospice, the estate agency has pledged to raise the 30k to fund a Mountbatten nurse for a year.  The initiative will also mark the fact that this is a 30th anniversary ‘double’ – since Walk the Wight also happens to be turning 30 this year.

The campaign is set to run throughout 2020, and will see Hose Rhodes Dickson donating £10 from every property sale completion.  In addition, the company is organising a series of fun events and challenges with teams from all six of its Island offices taking part.

Jeff Hose, one of the founding members of Hose Rhodes Dickson commented: “We have always been huge supporters of our local community and it is really important to us that we give something back to the Island. The work done at Mountbatten plays a big role in Island life, and I don’t think there is anyone who hasn’t been affected in one way or another, whether personally or through family and friends.

“The fact that we have supported Walk the Wight from the beginning made this a natural fit and we wanted to celebrate our 30th anniversary by doing something fun and worthwhile”.

Nigel Harley, CEO at Mountbatten said: “‘Hose Rhodes Dickson have been long-term supporters of Mountbatten and we’re so pleased they have chosen to raise such a huge amount as a team to continue the funding of a Mountbatten nurse. Their support will directly benefit so many people living on the Island when they need the support of our specialist nurses.”

By raising £30,000 over the 2020 calendar year, Hose Rhodes Dickson can specifically fund a nurse for the Island community, to continue the work of the Mountbatten at Home Community Nursing Team.  This dedicated team supports people in their own homes at the end of their lives, as well as supporting family members and carers.

Katie Mew, Head of Income Generation at Mountbatten, said: “We’re honoured that Hose Rhodes Dickson have chosen Mountbatten as their charity beneficiary in this year of celebration for us both as we celebrate 30 years of Walk the Wight. Raising £30,000 to fund a Mountbatten nurse for a year will make a huge difference to the support we can offer Island people and we’re very grateful”.

Hose Rhodes Dickson  was founded in Ventnor in 1990 by Jeff Hose and Mark Rhodes, before Richard Dickson joined in 1992. Today, the estate agency has seven directors, and offices in Newport, Ryde, Bembridge, Shanklin, Ventnor, Freshwater and Cowes.
