The Island’s award-winning primate rescue centre Monkey Haven is gearing up for a busy winter season. This gives animal lovers the chance to catch up with some of their favourite characters.

The sanctuary, located just outside Newport, is open Fridays – Mondays, from 10am-3pm, throughout November and December. Then from Christmas week through until January 3, which means there’s plenty of opportunity to pop along and join in the festive fun.

There are keeper talks throughout the day, and visitors can meet whooping gibbons, mischievous monkeys, birds, reptiles and the latest additions to the sanctuary…two rescued meerkats, Del Boy and Rodney!

There are trails, play areas, a tea room, gift shop, full disabled access, and even free seven day returns.

The tea room and gift shop are free to enter, making a great stop-off for a treat or Christmas shopping. Gifts on offer include adoptions, memberships, animal experiences, palm oil-free goodies and some quirky stocking fillers.

As a charity, all proceeds are directed towards helping to support the rescued animals and re-home and care for even more creatures in crisis. You can also shop online at www.monkeyhaven.org.

You can find Monkey Haven at Five Acres Farm, Staplers Road, Newport, Po30 2NB. Call them on 01983 530885.
