Islander Dec 19

The Isle of Wight came to a virtual standstill as residents and visitors stood in silence to pay tribute to those who perished, giving their lives in battle to save others. The Island lost many servicemen, both in the First and Second World Wars, as well as in other conflicts across the globe, including the Falklands War.

Remembrance Services were held across the Island on Sunday November 10, and a further two minutes’ silence was also observed the following day at 11am; which of course was the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. Click image above to view more photos.
