Even though the weather was somewhat unpredictable, there was nothing unpredictable about this year’s Isle of Wight Festival, as tens of thousands of revellers converged on Seaclose Park, Newport.
During the 20 or so years of the ‘re-born’ Festival, it has always delivered a magnificent music spectacle stretching over four days, and this year’s event proved just as good as any that had gone before it.
Music lovers of all ages, and from all over the UK and even Europe, made their way to the Isle of Wight, to soak up the electric atmosphere and enjoy the sights and sounds that stretched across the massive Festival complex.
Fans were treated to temperatures notching 30 degrees Centigrade on the opening two days, but then on the Saturday evening, when no one expected it, gale force winds howled across the site, forcing The Blossoms to take cover, and revellers to switch from shorts and sun hats to jeans and jumpers – if they had packed them!
But it still did not spoil the enjoyment, with the Main Stage artists, ranging from Madness to Muse and Nile Rogers to Rudimental captivating the masses. Elsewhere there was all types of music and entertainment around every corner and on every stage, making sure everyone was a winner.
A true music festival that left thousands eagerly awaiting news on next year’s Isle of Wight summer classic taking place from June 15 to 18. Early Bird tickets are now on sale.
