Around 10,000 people descended on Sandown Bay in May for the return of the popular Hullabaloo event, with its two-day programme of lively family fun.

Among the huge range of activities on offer, there were eccentric  ‘cardboard wars’, Bigtopmania and crazy bikes, plus the opportunity to learn circus skills, enjoy live music and a take part in a colourful carnival parade.

Combining art with science and technology, Hullabaloo also included a whole range of free workshops, parades, makers and inventors,

Organiser, Sharon George, Creative Director of Shade Makers, said of the event: “It was so crowded on Saturday, we could hardly move! The carnival parade was particularly successful – it’s wonderful to see families out in the open air having fun together.”

Ian Boyd, of Art Ecology added:  “We build marine environments, invented on the Island. The Solent is the headquarters for this kind of work and Hullabaloo is a chance for us to put all this on show”.
