The 2012 PSP Southampton Boat Show, the 44th show in Southampton and Britain’s best loved on-water boat show, again proved hugely popular. An impressive showcase for the leisure marine industry, 109,722 visitors attended the show over the 10 days, taking part in the attractions and activities both on and off the water.

British and International exhibitors numbering over 550, including nine from the Isle of Wight, filled the area of Southampton well known for hosting the annual show. A record number of launches took place, starting on Preview Day which saw stars such as Jensen Button, Eddie Jordan and interior designer Kelly Hoppen flock to Southampton to find their sea legs. With a social atmosphere, the not to be missed show didn’t disappoint, as we saw the Olympic and Paralympic on water heroes of the 2012 Games such as Ben Ainslie, Helena Lucas and Sophie Hosking open proceedings.

As ever, there was far more than boats to see at the show. After walking the showground and marina, it was essential to take a look at the Sea Kitchen Theatre, which this year saw TV chef Mark Sargeant (above) showing the crowd how to get the best out of seafood. Oyster enthusiasts looked to expert Katy Davidson for advice on foraging and shucking whilst many visitors retired to the bars overlooking the marina for some well-deserved refreshment!

The show goes from strength to strength – with stunning new launches, gastronomic delights and boats galore it’s the ideal day out!

In addition to all time favourites, there were plenty of new attractions this year: the Royal Marines Association dive tank, On The Water interactive and educational bus, Go Canoeing with the BCU and the RYA’s active marina experience.

One of the highlights on the first day of the PSP Southampton Boat Show was the launch of the luxurious Pearl 75. The stunning yacht was designed in a special collaboration with Kelly Hoppen, MBE. Laden with a host of unique features, the vessel is the largest of the Pearl fleet.
